Tesselaar’s Tulip Festival
On Sunday 25th September I woke up fearing what the weather would be like as I going to the Tulip Festival in Silvan for an outing with my Camera Club – Knox Photographic Society. The morning was crisp, sunny and no rain, as it had poured itself out the night before. Perfect to relax and enjoy the colours of spring.
The theme for that particular weekend at the Festival was Jazz, so we had a wonderful day of food, wine, Jazz and unlimited photographic opportunities. It was like combining life’s finer pleasures amongst the tulips – a fusion of photography, groove, gastronomy and grapes in the garden.
Dr Jazz, a five-piece ensemble featuring Ruby Ray, who was so energetic with her Charleston dance moves, played the early jazz tunes from the 20’s to the 50’s. They certainly got the crowd involved and got your toes tapping.
An amazing variety of foods were available, including: Italian, Dutch, Turkish, of course Aussie, Good Coffee, Ice Creams, Japanese, Bavarian, African, Indian and home cooked scones.
With your entry ticket you received two complimentary wine and beer tasting tokens. With a range of Yarra Valley wineries and breweries to choose from, everybody’s taste buds were well catered for.
Market stalls filled with local crafts from the Yarra Valley, Warburton Trail and Dandenong Ranges were on display to wander through at leisure.
Please have a look at some of the photos taken from the Festival. Just go to Portfolio, choose Events, then select Tesselaar Tulip Festival.
