This week your challenge is Street Photography. Street photography is about capturing or documenting everyday life and society on the streets where you find yourself – usually candid moments without the subject knowing they are being photographed. Although at times, subjects can be staged.
You don’t have to travel great distances to get great street shots. There will be plenty of opportunities that will present themselves as moments unfold. Practice and patience, I’m sure will reward you.
Things to look for are emotion, depict a person’s character, humanity. You don’t always need people in the scene; you may choose different forms of transportation - cars, bikes, trams etc. moving along a street, possibly a row of interesting shops. A great street image essentially needs a good composition, good light and great atmosphere, that is what tells a good story.
Street photography is spontaneous and waits for no one. Be observant and have your camera ready at all times. You rarely get a second chance for a retake, so don’t miss an amazing opportunity by not being prepared.
Remember creativity flows where passion is, so use your imagination and above all, enjoy your camera and have fun and I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
